Kareem George here, exploring the very walkable, scenic city of Porto. From the central location of Infante Sagres, it is just a 10-15 minute stroll down to the Douro River.
The atmosphere on the river bank is vibrant, teaming with restaurants, shops and pedestrians ambling along the long promenade. The Eiffel Bridge is the key focal point and connects Porto to the city of Gaia. The views from Gaia to Porto are spectacular, as you will see. I take a break for lunch at a wonderful restaurant with sweeping vistas.
Having walked the lower level over, I take the upper deck of the Eiffel bridge back, stopping at the train station in Porto. The tile work inside is beautiful. FYI, there are frequent routes to Lisbon and the high speed train only takes about 2.5 hours.
The reward for a full day out exploring is a delectable dinner. I would highly recommend MISTU restaurant & bar: chic ambience, friendly service and fresh, delicious food.
Looking forward to getting out more tomorrow…
