Just Back From: India

India is a fascinating country and an ideal destination for the culturally curious, history lovers, shoppers and those who appreciate nature. Culture Traveler, CEO, Kareem George, visited the subcontinent last month, exploring more than 5 locations with colleagues from Travel + Leisure Magazine and the Travel + Leisure Travel Advisory Board.

Kareem's Indian odyssey commenced in New Delhi, with stays at the convenient (and comfortable) Andaz Delhi as well as the historic Imperial New Delhi. On the culinary front, a highlight was dinner at The Spice Route, at the Imperial.

Another of New Delhi's outstanding hotels is the Leela Palace, where guests are truly treated as royalty. During this time in the capital, Kareem visited both historical and truly local spots. Discovering Old Delhi via rickshaw is a thrill! Other activities included a private tour of the Presidential Palace, Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Sunder Nursery Museum.

Udaipur was the next destination and the Oberoi Udaivilas offered a true sanctuary by the lake. Outside of the city, Kareem visited the ornate Jain Temple at Ranakpur, which balances intricate architecture with spiritual tranquility.

For a city break, the next destination was the impressive Six Senses Fort Barwara. You will learn more about this innovative hotel brand later in this newsletter. At Fort Barwara guests enjoy the spectacular setting of a tastefully renovated historic fort. The common spaces are expansive, the vistas sweeping and the wellness offerings are comprehensive.

A possible day trip from Six Senses Fort Barwara is Ranthambore National Park, where one may seek out the elusive bengal tiger. The park is home to a variety of other wildlife and the landscapes are beautiful.

The next destination was the dynamic "pink" city of Jaipur, known equally for its impressive monuments, palaces and shopping. Two incredible properties played host, the expansive Oberoi Rajvilas and the luxurious Leela Palace Jaipur.

Kareem's itinerary next ventured to the "blue" city of Jodhpur where he was hosted in two residences of royal origins, the Umaid Bhawan Palace and the Ajit Bhawan Palace. Touring included the imposing Meharangarth Fort as well as exploration outside of town to a Bishnoi village and home.

The final stop on this journey was the idyllic Jawai Leopard Camp, set in the Indian bush. Twice daily game drives explore the raw terrain in search of the Indian leopard. Back at camp guests enjoy chic accommodations, delicious cuisine and a comprehensive wellness offering featuring a variety of spa treatments as well as yoga instruction.

Many thanks to our valued partners, Travel + Leisure, Greaves Tours and Abercrombie & Kent for curating this diverse and highly enriching experience. Message us if you are intrigued by India and keen to discuss how you may approach a visit to this multifaceted destination.

Creamery Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge in West Brattleboro, Vermont. The 80 foot long and 19 foot wide lattice truss bridge was built in 1879 out of spruce lumber and is the last of what were once a large amount of covered bridges in the area. The bridge was closed to traffic in 2010.

Creamery Bridge is aptly named after the old Brattleboro Creamery which stood beyond it. It is one of the few in the country to be painted. It is barn red and the inside shows traces of a coat of fire-resistant whitewash applied long ago.
