Are you dreaming of an exotic escape post-quarantine?
Its location at the intersection of Europe and Africa make Morocco a real crossroads bordered by the waters of the Mediterranean and open to the vast stretches of the Atlantic Ocean. This "farthest land of the setting sun" is rich in contrasts, a destination that beckons you to discover two millennia of history.
Many of you have asked which international destinations will be the first to reopen and to welcome tourists…
The answer to this question certainly remains unknown, however Morocco may prove to be a leader. The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths reported have been low in comparison to other African and European nations: less than 7,000 confirmed illnesses reported and nearly half recovered; less than 200 deaths.
The Government of Morocco has announced that the country’s “Health State of Emergency” has been extended and will remain in effect until May 20 as part of its emergency measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. During this period, movement during the day should be limited to work, grocery shopping, medical care, purchasing medicine/medical supplies, and emergency situations only. Train and intercity bus service has been suspended and a curfew has also been put into place. During the curfew (currently 7pm to 5am for the Ramadan period), movement restrictions will be strictly enforced. All regularly scheduled commercial flights to and from Morocco remain suspended indefinitely.
Once travel resumes, the striking landscapes and architecture of Morocco will surely draw attention. Historically known for tolerance and warm hospitality, visitors comfortably enjoy a range of experiences. Local guides provide intimate interactions through private tours of historic sites and artisan workshops. Personally witnessing the vastness and solitude of the Sahara is a profound dessert experience.
