Kareem George here with a quick post for those of you who are time starved, but still keen on travel inspiration. Here are 5 reasons you should prioritize Brazil on your travel wish list:
1. Ease of travel and adjustment - I flew overnight from Atlanta (about 9.5 hours) and the time difference from the US east coast is just 1 hour ahead. This is a relatively easy journey and time change for most North American travelers
2. Vibrant culture and diversity - Brazil is a fascinating, culturally rich destination. It is a land of immigrants, similar to the US and Canada. In my first two days I have interacted with a true rainbow of wonderful people and tasted a plethora of flavors from around the world
3. Value - there are a variety of accommodation types here for all different budgets. In terms of goods (food, souvenirs, etc.), prices are quite inexpensive. The present exchange rate is nearly 5 Brazilian Real to 1 US dollar
4. Weather, climate, flora and fauna - tropical, lush, green, alive. We have been greeted by lovely weather in Sāo Paulo and will experience a variety of climate zones across the country. I have been taken by the many shades of green and clear blue skies. Stay tuned for the coastal landscape of Salvador, incredible Iguassu Falls and the dramatic scenery of Rio
5. The people - friendly, engaging, diverse and full of character. There is a palpable zest for life here and a wonderful approachability to the locals. Mama Trindade is case in point and her cabaret show was a fun, lively cherry to top off our first day in Brazil
