“She did not stand alone, but what stood behind her, the most potent moral force in her life, was the love of her father."-Harper Lee, Go Set a Watchman
Nelle Harper Lee was an American novelist best known for her 1961 Pulitzer Prize novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Go Set a Watchman (published in 2015) was actually a discarded version of the rejected original submission of To Kill a Mockingbird. Because Lee lacked literary confidence in her writing in 1957 and because her rewrite of Watchman into Mockingbird was so successful, she never returned to her unfinished manuscript. After the death of Lee's sister, Alice Lee, in November of 2014, the original manuscript was found in a safety-deposit box. Nelle Harper Lee passed away on February 19th, 2016.
